The series of the Early Works includes, in chronological order, the youthful works and the first works from the high school period (late 1960s - early 1970s), both figurative and abstract. Works characterized by an innate talent and the study of technique, accompanied by initial elements of experimentation.
The series is introduced by Napoleon (1969), the artist's first oil on canvas created at the age of 13, a work where the materiality of the painterly gesture is already evident. Both Napoleon and Green Elements (1974), here positioned at the end of the series, are works that present a first and exceptional use of the oil on canvas technique within the artist's practice.
The series includes painting experiments that will lay the basis for the creation of subsequent series: the work Abstract Composition with Hammer (1972) presents a personal, material interpretation of the technique of grattage or scraping; while, Green Elements constitutes a first abstraction experimentation towards formal elements reminiscent of the future series of Fragments.
