The Combustions series originated in the mid-1970s in response to the on going increasing socio-political tension. The first works belonging to this series coincide with disruptive materic actions. Early works such as Fracture (1975), indeed, coincide with formal outcomes of combustive actions, recalliing the Fragments series.
The Combustion series, then, extend into the early 2000s and take on a surface version which coincides with painterly traces on a wooden surface.
